The BOPC meets weekly each Thursday at 3:00 pm at Detroit Public Safety Headquarters, except for the second Thursday when the BOPC holds a monthly community meeting at 6:30 pm at various locations.

Due to the ongoing public health concerns, seating is limited and masks are required. The public may continue to participate via Zoom Meeting ID 397 380 647 and Code 905613

The Board of Police Commissioners has supervisory control and oversight of the Police Department, including plenary authority over citizen complaints and the power to appoint fact finders, subpoena witnesses, administer oaths, take testimony, and require the production of evidence. The Board also appoints a civilian as Director of Police Personnel and approves all promotions made by the Chief.
