Mid-month meeting of the Lawrence Common Council

The minutes were approved for the regular meeting on October 7,2024.
The first resolution on the docket was Resolution No.8, 2024- the approval of the collective bargaining agreement between the city of Lawrence and the Fraternal Order Of Police ,Lodge 159 which will become effective on January 1, 2025.
The second resolution on tonight’s agenda is Resolution 9, 2024- Concerning the approval of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between The City Of Lawrence and The Lawrence Professional Firefighters Association, Local 416 effective January 1, 2025 was approved by the Council.
The Council voted to unanimously approve Resolution No. 10, 2024, a resolution of the City of Lawrence, Indiana concerning the transfer of funds.
The Council discussed and approved Proposal no.12,2024- An Ordinance fixing the salaries for appointed officers and employees of the Police Department and the Fire Department for 2025.
The Council next discussed Proposal no. 13, 2024-An Ordinance that will establish proper compensation for elected officials for the city of Lawrence for the year 2025 and a timetable for when they should take effect.
The Council moved to Proposal No. 14, 2024- An Ordinance fixing salaries of appointed officers and employees of the city of Lawrence for 2025 which was unanimously approved.
Next on the agenda was the approval of Proposal no. 15, 2024 an additional appropriation Ordinance for the year 2024.
The final Ordinance on the agenda that was approved by the Council was Proposal no.16, 2024- For appropriations and tax rates for the year 2025.
The only new business off the night the Council discussed was Resolution no.11, 2024-A resolution for the retention of Stone Municipal Group as Municipal Advisor.
The floor was opened for brief citizens gentleman inquired about the removal of the Comptroller and why the status of that removal has been shrouded in secrecy. comments.One

Another citizen inquired about the qualifications for a special events permit.
