Chicago City Hall, 121 N LaSalle St, 2nd floor, Council Chambers, Chicago, IL 60602 (Directions)
This is an assignment to document part of Chicago City Council’s 2024 budget process. This meeting of the Committee on Finance is sometimes known as the “Revenue Ordinance Meeting.” Alders will meet to discuss and vote on how they’ll fund the proposed budget using property taxes, bonds and other sources of revenue like fines and fees. Last year, this type of meeting took about three hours.
Budget meetings are a lot easier to follow if you’ve done your pre-research! Check out The Chicago Documenters Guide to the 2024 City Budget Process (https://tinyurl.com/ChiDocs2024BudgetGuide) in preparation for this assignment.
