6611 Ridge Rd., Parma., OH. 44129 Parma City Council is the legislative branch of the government of the City of Parma in Ohio. Council meets on the first and third Mondays of the month at 6:00 p.m. in Council chambers.
After roll call, the invocation and pledge of allegiance, the meeting may start with special recognition of citizen(s) or local organizations. Council allows time for the public to comment on legislation. The body then introduces legislation and votes on legislation. Residents have a second opportunity to address. Council during public comment.
Time is provided for department heads and council members to give reports. Council does not typically discuss legislation in detail at this meeting; that happens in council’s committee meetings (immediately before full council meeting) On some Mondays, Council will hold a public housing meeting or a special meeting from 6:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and then start the council meeting.This is noted on the meeting calendar as well as on the agenda.
There are nine wards in Parma with each ward having an elected City Council member. In addition to the nine council members there is a council president. Council Members are elected to serve a four-year term. Council members and the council clerk work part-time for the city. Attending in person? Attending in person? We add two hours of pay ($36) to the assignment. City Hall is located on Ridge Rd. Turn in the drive and go to the back of the building. You will see doors straight ahead but the council entrance is before that, on your right hand side. Parking is free.
