This is a committee of the Cuyahoga Community College Board of Trustees. The full board consists of nine trustees who, in collaboration with the college president, are charged with fulfilling the goals set forth in the College Mission Statement. The college president also serves as the secretary to the board. The board has the authority to act as the governing body in all policy matters of the college requiring attention or action. Only the nine trustees have voting power.

Note: This is an in-person-only meeting. There is a notetaking role and a separate audio role. Notetakers, you may find it helpful for your coverage to record audio of the meeting, but it is not a requirement of your assignment. We add two additional hours of pay to in-person assignments ($36). Learn more about the audio roles we’re testing out.

Note: This is also our first time covering this committee, so we don’t know exactly what to expect. Lead with your curiosity and feel free to note if something doesn’t make sense in your coverage. Committee members may ask you to introduce yourself and share more about Documenters. Here is some suggested language in response:

“I am a Documenter trained to monitor public meetings in the public interest. My work is made publicly available in collaboration with Signal Cleveland’s Cleveland Documenters program. For more information visit cleveland.documenters.org/.”

At the time of opening this assignment, we’re still working to pinpoint which board members serve on this committee and what the committee’s purpose is. Here are the full board members:

  • Helen Forbes Fields, chair of the full board
  • Ann Frangos, vice chair of the full board
  • Rev. Cory Jenkins
  • Phoebe Lee
  • Geralyn Presti
  • Alan Rosskamm
  • Victor Ruiz
  • Ted Tywang

Agenda: We’ll let you know if we receive one, but keep a lookout here.

More details about the full board:

Appointments to the board are made by the governor (three trustees) and by the Cuyahoga County Executive (six trustees) for five-year terms or the remainder of vacated terms.

Each year, the Board of Trustees will have a Board Student Scholar. The Board Student Scholar will be a full-time student selected by the Joint Student Council. The Board Student Scholar is not a Trustee, has no voting rights, and does not participate in decision-making or executive sessions.
